Shufu Miyamoto  found his calling as a woodblock print maker after initially studying oil painting under Ioka Osamu. The prints are limited to editions of 100-200. The paper has a deeply embossed seal and water mark with the artists name and "self cut and print by the artist" in lower right margin. The paper is a thick, high quality Japanese washi paper. A romantic and dreamlike effect results from the extensive use of bokashi, a technique of gradation of colors to achieve lightness and darkness, requiring laborious hand application of color to the block for each print produced, following a tradition used by such masters as Hokusai and Hiroshige.
