We are offering a selection of prints from this now extremely scarce & beautiful work, The Complete System of Geography, by Charles Theodore Middleton, published in 1778. Landscapes and peoples of Asia, Africa, America, and many other exotic locales are depicted, typically based on descriptions brought to the engravers in England from afar. These images accompanied written descriptions of authors exploring foreign lands, feeding the public's hunger to see the world - at least on paper. Each print measures approximately 9 by 14 1/2 inches. The images, on soft white chain lined paper are superbly hand colored.
