An illustrious English horticulturist, Joseph Paxton was born in 1801. Without formal education, his dedication to horticulture eventually earned him a seat in the House of Commons and a knighthood. His Magazine of Botany series, published in 16 volumes from 1834-1849 became highly prized for the brilliant colors and the outstanding beauty of the plants illustrated. Today, it may rank as one of the most under appreciated works of the botanical print world, but we are struck once again by the stunning beauty of the images and the strength of the hand coloring.

We are currently offering a selection of prints from the entire set, published in 1834 to 1849. The prints are of particularly high quality, with gilt paper edges and the very finest hand coloring. Panteek has never had a better set of prints to present to print lovers.

Each single is untrimmed, measuring approximately 9 by 6 1/4 inches and each double size print measures approximately 9 by 12 inches. Prints are accompanied by the relevant descriptive text. These paper is very clean, of a soft white, with very few imperfections. The original hand coloring in these prints is some of the most vibrant and intense of the entire epoch & we are pleased to present many rarely seen prints from the later volumes.
