Hajimi Namiki (b. 1947) works in the tradition of the Japanese Sosaku Hanga masters, carving his own blocks and self-printing each work, using unconventional materials such as silver and gold leaf and oil-based pigments. Trees are a central theme for their growth, seasonal aspects, and the subtle changes in light and hue throughout a single day. Namiki's intricate works are in many major museum collections.
