We are currently offering a selection of prints from The Botanic Garden and The Botanist periodical in the quarto edition size, approximately 7 inches wide by 9 inches long. All plates in this series of 312 are ORIGINAL HAND COLORED engravings and of the utmost delicacy and beauty. Each flower is a little jewel of skillful artistry. The condition of the plates is excellent with paper strong and not brittle and still quite white. The margins are wide and there are various fine clear watermarks on the paper, including J Whatman, Penny, J Green & Sons, with the date. The plates are bright and clean with very fine coloring by Mrs. E. Bay, Misses E. & S. Maund, E D Smith & Mills & engraved by S Watts.
It is remarkable for a work that is 200 years old. Each print is accompanied by the descriptive text if available.
