These delightful woodblock prints of the world's most successful species are by Tadashige Nishida (b. 1942) and published by Uchida in Kyoto. He studied art Europe and the USA as well as Japan and presents a unique synthesis of western and Japanese styles. The colors are vivid, often incorporating gold and silver pigments in the backgrounds.
