The first edition of this work is limited to 921 copies of which this is number 546, printed on fine papier de Rives with the black and white illustrations in addition to the 40 colored illustrations. It is particularly sought after by collectors.
The work comprises 40 illustrations by George Barbier, master Art Deco illustrator, including the color frontispiece, tiny spine image, vignettes, and initials in the Art Deco style, as shown. There are 27 pages of black and white illustrations matching the colored ones, some with more than 1 on a page, like those colored. The book is in very good condition with a paper cover and spine with lettering and slight wear. The prints are very bright with no foxing on the prints or the aged white paper. One text page has a small corner missing.
