Later, at the age of 23, he was inspired to pursue botanical illustration after viewing the works of Jan van Huysum and Rachel Ruysch. Redoute's talents soon caught the attention of the Dutch painter Gerard van Spaendonck and the botanist \u0026amp; gentry man Charles Louis L'Héritier de Brutelle. L'Hertier served as Redoute's teacher, instructing him on the finer points of plant anatomy. L'Héritier also introduced Redoute to the members of the court of Versailles, eventually leading to Redoute's appointment as a royal painter. Redoute tutored Queen Marie-Antoinette, Empress Josephine, Marie-Louise, and Queen Marie-Amelie. After the French Revolution, van Spaendonck helped Redoute find work at the Les Jardins de Plantes at the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"\u003eEach print is on a fine light creamy paper with strong plate marks.
