This is another Bilder Buche in the wonderful tradition of German children's books \u0026amp; similar to the Hanselmann \u0026amp; Schubert that have been such favorites. We seek these prints out in Europe, as they are a charming window into a bygone era. As Bilder Books go, this one probably tops them all, as it was a massive work in 12 volumes, published from 1790 to 1810 with about 1,187 prints of a wonderfully comprehensive \u0026amp; eclectic nature.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"\u003eBertuch was the son of a physician \u0026amp; he became an orphan early on. After studying first theology and then law in Jena, he later became a successful publisher in Weimar, Germany \u0026amp; the largest employer in the town. There are only four botanical prints in the entire work, five if you count the turret puff ball.  We are exceptionally fortunate to have located these prints as they have become so very scarce, coming onto the market so infrequently of late that it is almost certainly an indicator that there are very few left in private hands.
