Rees Cyclopedia Atlas 1820

France RCM10 $45
Each print measures approximately 16 1/4 by 10 1/2 inches.

We are pleased to offer these high-quality engravings of maps from the Rees Cyclopedia Atlas. The early years of the nineteenth century saw a flowering of encyclopedias publishing in Britain, Europe and America. Rees's Cyclopaedia, one of several published around this time, contains fascinating information about every aspect of life including the industrial and scientific revolutions of the time. The work is particularly distinguished by the beautiful quality of the engravings, done by engravers such as Wilson Lowry & John Farey, Jr. Encyclopedias were published in Scotland, as a result of the Scottish Enlightenment, for education there was of a higher standard than in the rest of Britain.

Each print measures approximately 16 1/4 by 10 1/2 inches on thick, creamy paper with no foxing. A copy of the title page is included with each print.
