Larger Anomia, Edible Oyster PEN65 $45
Each print measures approximately 6 inches by 9 3/4 inches.

We are pleased to offer a selection of hand colored crab, lobster, starfish, sea urchin, and shell engravings from British Zoology by Thomas Pennant, published in London 1812.  Thomas Pennant was an early pioneer in taxonomy and British Zoology was perhaps his greatest work, a watershed in the history of biology.

Each print measures approximately 6 inches by 9 3/4 inches on a fine paper with strong plate marks and with some plates bearing watermarks.  The prints are without foxing, and the paper is still quite white.  A copy of the title page will be included, though there is no descriptive text.  These prints have been recently hand colored by one of the last remaining professional colorist in England, following descriptions of the species illustrated.  All of our prints are original antique prints, guaranteed to be the age stated.  These prints are over 190 years old.
