Red and Blue Maccaw, with Mat JDT7 $95
Price includes handmade French mat with Italian marbled papers

Mat measures 8 inches by 10 inches.

We at Panteek are pleased to offer highlights from the first edition of the Naturalist's Library, the first successful attempt to make natural history accessible to the general public.  The noted Scottish ornithologist Sir William Jardine set out to describe and illustrate all animals, birds and insects through this series.  Engraver William H. Lizars wanted to make the plates as showy as possible to attract attention, and created the engraving plates in steel - not the traditional copper - to create a very fine line on the small area (each page measures approximately 4 1/8" by 6 3/4").  Each print was then hand-colored before publication.

These prints are complemented by a beautiful handmade ivory mat embellished with marbled Italian paper. The mats fit into a standard 8" by 10" frame.
