Jamain Roses 1873

Laure Davoust JA53 $95
Each print measures approximately 6 3/4 by 10 3/4 inches

Hippolyte Jamain was a French rose hybridizer who introduced many new species of roses in the 19th century.   He published a selection of his most beautiful roses along with other enduring favourites in a wonderful and now scarce work entitled Les Roses, dedicated to the Duchess of Cambridge.

Each print measures approximately 6 3/4 by 10 3/4 inches on a fine, thick creamy paper. These beautiful vibrant chromolithographs are enhanced with gum arabic and the colors are still bright and fresh. The prints are free of foxing, though there is scattered foxing on the original descriptive text which is supplied along with the title page copy.  All of our prints are authentic antique prints, guaranteed to be the age stated. These rose prints are about 120 years old.
