G & H GRL7 $95
Each print measures approximately 15 3/4 inches wide by 12 3/4 inches long.

We are pleased to offer this beautiful selection of collotype prints from Pflanzen anhang zu Gerlach, Festons und Decorative Gruppen by Martin Gerlach, published in Vienna in 1880 by Gerlach & Schenk.  These beautiful prints feature two consecutive letters of the alphabet on each page, with the second letter repeated as the first on the following page.  All of the letters are depicted ornamentally with various plants and animals, except for the letters "J" & "Y" which were omitted from the work.

The collotype is an early photographic process.  The plate was made by a process of coating glass or metal with a dichromate gelatin or other colloid, washing, then exposing it to the negative with ultraviolet light, then washing & drying before its use in printing.

The prints are in excellent condition with little to no foxing, on a dark creamy, Bristol-type heavy paper.  There is no descriptive text, but a copy of the decorative title page will accompany your order.
