Fig-leaved Ipomoea PAX140 $75
Each print measures approximately 6 1/4 inches by 9 1/8 inches.
An illustrious English horticulturist, Joseph Paxton was born in 1801. Without formal education, his dedication to horticulture eventually earned him a seat in the House of Commons and a knighthood. His Magazine of Botany series, published in 16 volumes from 1834-1849 have become highly prized for their brilliant colors and the outstanding beauty of the plants illustrated.
We are currently offering a selection of prints from the entire set, published in 1834 to 1849. Each single is untrimmed, measuring approximately 9 1/8 by 6 1/4 inches and each foldout measures approximately 9 by 12 inches. Prints are accompanied by the relevant descriptive text. On some there may be light toning which does not impact the beauty of the print. The hand coloring in these prints is some of the most vibrant and intense of the entire epoch & we are pleased to present many rarely seen prints from the later volumes.
