As lovers of all fine botanical illustration, we have decided to expand our selection to include important works from the 20th century, which has truly seen a renaissance in botanical illustration. Many of these works are special editions, or limited editions of numbered issues & many were supported by Wilfred Blunt, the renowned expert on botanical illustration & author of the invaluable reference “The Art of Botanical Illustration”.

The two magnificent works from which we offer superb, reasonably priced folio prints each have a foreword by William Blunt & were published in 1971 & 1976 as companion works. The Flora Superba is an edition of 406 & the Flora Magnifica an edition of 506.

Paul Jones (1921-1997) is a contemporary Australian artist who has painted these beautiful botanical illustrations in a manner very reminiscent of Thornton’s Temple of Flora. His paintings are widely held in museum collections and included in several interesting exhibits linked below, at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford & the Smithsonian in Washington.
