Plan et Elevation de l'ordonance Corinthienne Eleve sur un Soubassement a l'usage des Edifices et Batimens particuliers NEU88 $145
The Recueil Elementaire D’Archtecture published from
1757 on and sells for as much as $45,000 in its entirety
of over 900 copper engravings. It was the masterpiece of
Jean-François de Neufforge (1714-191), of Belgium, who
moved to Paris to study architecture and engraving. He
started this project at the age of about 40 & it was to
eventually bankrupt him.
While he built no buildings, his legacy was in this
mammoth and comprehensive catalog of neo-classical and
baroque architecture in all its aspects that was a
cornerstone and influential reference for architects
throughout the world.
We consider ourselves very fortunate indeed to have
obtained a few of these wonderful prints & due to their
scarcity have been a little more forgiving of condition
than usual. The prints are on creamy, chain lined paper
which varies in size from 9 by 14 1/2 inches to 10 1/4
by 16 inches. While there is very little foxing, there may
be some soiling at the margins.
