Kato prints of Kyoto by Moonlight

Summer Bamboo at Sagano KET7 $135 measures approximately 7 inches by 15 1/2 inches

At the age of 50, in the mid 1980's, Teruhide Kato decided to reorient his work as a successful kimono designer to the creation of woodblock prints. As inspiration, he chose the beautiful city of Kyoto, his hometown, with its wealth of ancient temples and gardens. Published by Unsodo of Kyoto, each print is in excellent condition on fine thick paper with vibrant coloring. They provide views of all the amazing sights of Kyoto at the height of the seasons and often in moonlight. He had a show in New York 1991. The book, "Kyoto Romance," was published at the same time and illustrates beautifully his dynamic art.
