Dezallier Shell Prints 1772

While our images are electronically watermarked, the antique prints themselves are not.

Buccins DZS10 $125
Each print measures approximately 10 inches by 15 inches.

We are pleased to present a selection of prints from Conchyliologie ober Ubbandlung von den Schnecten, Muscheln by Dezallier d'Argenville, published in Vienna 1772. Desallier d'Argenville was an advisor to King Louis XV and his work La Conchyliologie gained enormous popularity. He coined the word conchyliologie, or Conchology.

The shells are arranged in unusually dynamic patterns which makes these over 230 year old shells seem quite modern.  The condition of the plates is excellent, on thick, high quality chain lined paper. There is almost no foxing as can be seen by the photos. Each print is folio size, measuring approximately 10 inches by 15 inches. There is no descriptive text but a copy of the title page will be provided. The photos are very accurate, so please review carefully. All our prints are authentic antique prints and guaranteed to be from the date stated.
