Carol Dawson is a published novelist, journalist, and non-fiction author who has been painting for thirty-five years and focusing her attention on watercolor for the last twenty.  Born in Texas, she studied art, anthropology, English Literature, journalism, and the Classics at the University of Texas at Austin, and has since lived in England, Italy, and New Zealand, as well as in New Mexico, California, and Washington state.  In addition, she has traveled widely in Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, and Central America.  She has taught Creative Writing and Literature as a visiting professor/writer-in-residence at the College of Santa Fe, as well as showing her watercolors in galleries from Taos to the Seattle area.  Her work resides in a number of private and commercial/corporate collections.

Dawson's watercolors, which center on natural subjects painted from life, are often infused with botanical references, from the singularity of a lone blossom to the jungle density of a flower-crowded window.  She prefers the luminosity and transparency of watercolor to any other medium.  Her sensibilities, discipline, and admiration tend to follow the traditions of Japanese Kacho-e as well as both classical and contemporary Western art. 

The watercolors on page one measure approximately 30 inches wide by 22 inches long.  The watercolors on page two measure approximately 18 inches wide by 24 inches long, and the watercolors on page three measure approximately 14 inches wide by 20 inches long.
