Rhododendron siderophyllum CL8759 $55
Each single print measures approximately 5 3/4 by 9 1/2 inches,

William Curtis began publication of the Botanical Magazine in February 1787 and continued almost without interruption for 160 years. After Curtis edited the first 13 volumes, the publication continued under the editors: John Simms (1800-1826), William Jackson Hooker (1827-1865) and Joseph Dalton Hooker (1865-1904). The images were engraved and hand-colored by many artists including Sydenham Edwards, William Graves, James Sowerby, John Curtis, William Jackson Hooker, W.H. Fitch, Matilda Smith, Lillian Snelling and Stella Rose Craig. The plates are known for their fine detail and delicate coloring. We are fortunate to have bought a huge lot of Curtis, from the very first in the 1790's all the way to the 1930's, all hand coloured & all in beautiful condition. There are some from years which are rarely seen, such as 1914-1918, when the issues printed were very few. We see the whole gamut of the botanical exploration done for the magazine, with hundreds of exotic species from all corners of our world. Most will be listed on eBay, with many cactus, Australian & Asian plants, carnivorous plants, and a huge selection of ornamentals. Truly it is a multi-cultural work, with interesting & beautiful plant species from every land.

Each single print measures approximately 5 3/4 by 9 1/2 inches, and the double prints measure approximately 9 inches by 12 inches. Prints are accompanied by the relevant descriptive text. The condition of these prints is excellent with little or no foxing on strong, thick paper that is still quite white. All our prints are ORIGINAL antique prints with documented provenance. We do NOT sell reproductions of any type. The photos are very accurate, so please review carefully.
