"Les Jardin des Plantes" by Pierre Bernard and Louis Couailhac provided a picturesque encyclopedia of animals and plants at the Museum of Natural History in Paris. The two volumes, published in 1842 and 1843, depict plants of the garden as well as birds, crustaceans, and insects in their natural settings. Each authentic originally hand-colored plate measures approximately 7" x 10 1/4".
